Letter from a friend,

I just had to write to tell you how much I love you and care for you. Yesterday, I saw you walking and laughing with your friends; I hoped that soon you‘d want Me to walk along with you, too. So, I painted you a sunset to close your day and whispered a cool breeze to refresh you. I waited – you never called – I just kept on loving you.

As I watched you fall asleep last night, I wanted so much to touch you. I spilled moonlight onto your face - trickling down your cheeks as so many tears have. You didn’t even think of Me. I wanted so much to comfort you.

The next day I exploded a brilliant sunrise into glorious morning for you. But you work up late and rushed off-you didn’t even notice. My sky became cloudy and My tears were the rain.

I love you, oh, if you’d only listen. I really love you. I try to say it in the quiet of the green meadows and in the blue sky. The winds whisper My love throughout the treetops and spills it into the vibrant colors of all the flowers. I shout it to you in the thunder of the great waterfalls and compose love songs for birds to sing for you. I warm you with the clothing of My sunshine and perfume the air with nature’s sweet scent. 1. Your thumb is neare st you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring ! f inger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When youknow which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. Whensomeone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, toprovide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionallyor spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on yourpart or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something tobring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we mustrealize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfi lled, their workis done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has cometo share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually giveyou an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for aseason.!

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must buildupon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to acceptthe lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blindbut friendship is clairvoyant .

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

THERE IS HOPE

Good morning everyone. Today I would like to share with you how God gives me hope and how God restores my soul.
In 1994, when I was 38 years old, I had 3rd stage breast cancer. That was a great shock to me because in 18 years I took only 8 days of MC. So how could I have cancer!Then in February 2006, I had a relapse. This was my second great shock because the relapse was 12 years later. Normally doctors say you are quite safe after 5 years.
This time it had spread from the internal mammary nodes to the sternum and is classified as the final 4th terminal stage.
The tumour size is slightly smaller than this fist, measuring about 6x7x4cm sandwiched between the heart and the left lung, which had spread to the sternum as you can see in the diagram. And it cannot be removed by surgery due to the awkward position between the heart and the lung.
Upon discovery, I was greatly distressed and shaken, and the first thing that came to me is that, I don't want to die. I don't want to die for two reasons:-1) Firstly, not at a young age of 50 leaving behind my husband and my son.
2) Secondly, I don't want to die because I don't feel I was ready to meet God.I have not given God priority in my life. My whole life is nothing much but routine busyness, day in and day out, and often work would come first, weakening my relationship with God and people around me.
Since I was not ready to meet God and with death lurking around me,I wondered to myself, how could I ever have the time: - to see my own transformation within my soul and how could I have the time - to do God's will when I am at this 4th stage of terminal cancer
With this prognosis, I came to a point where I could no longer determine what I wished to do. This statement 'There Is No Hope' was staring at me.
I felt completely hopeless because I know that from medical statistics, fourth stage cancer patients can just die within months or within a short period.
There was nowhere else I could turn to but to seek the Lord with all my heart.Then I remembered Psalm 107:20that says 'God sent His Word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave.' So clearly God was telling me THERE IS HOPE. Yes, there is Hope through His Word.
Then I began to spend much time in reading and meditating on His Word while I was undergoing treatment last year.
If not for the HOPE found in His Word, I don't think I would have survived. The suffering was immense and intense. Many times I was bedridden, too weak to lift a glass of water, taking an hour to finish a bowl of porridge, crying in immense pain despite taking six painkillers a day, having pain and aches all over the body, swollen with as many as nine mouth ulcers at once and waking up every hour in the night to apply Bonjela. Sometimes I could not seem to find my body; it was as though I was unable to locate my head, my hands, my legs and my body organs. I went through the pits of hell of suffering.
My husband and I prayed and cried to the Lord for nights to get some emotional and pain relief. Each time we cried, we grew closer and closer to God.
Each time I went for my chemotherapy, I increased my effort in Word Therapy.What this means it that as I read His Word, He spoke certain special verses to me and I began to type them out and paste them all over the wall next to my bed.
I administered His Word a few times a day by speaking it aloud and hearing it. Hearing my own voice on the Word of God,sent an impulse into my spirit and gave much emotional and pain relief.
The more time I spent on God's Word, the more I feel the Spirit of God living in me. And today I am still alive because I am living by the Spirit of God.
I just cannot live so 'humanly' anymore; with the pain across my chest still tormenting me each day, with the tumour on my chest as though I am carrying a stone, for example when the car breaks I can feel as though the stone is popping out.It's just so impossible to carry on living sometimes. The only way for me to continue living is to Live By The Spirit which means I have to connect my spirit with the Spirit of God. When connected, then only I can:-
- Die to my sinful nature- Die to my carnal feeling including pain which is so difficult and - Die to disobedience and appropriate God's Word in my life every day
In this process of Living By The Spirit, I realised that He Gives me Hope and He Restores my Soul.
So what happened last year after I finished my last chemo in August?One month later, in September, my CT scan showed no improvement. The treatment had not regressed the cancer mass across the chest wall and sternum. The scans before and after the treatment were about the same. It was discouraging news to my husband and me.
We cried for three days and three nights when the doctor said "Don't know how long you will live. It could be months, it could be years. I suggest you enjoy life and live one day at a time."
At that time, Satan began to torment me with the spirit of death, saying, "There is no hope, there is no hope. Time to give up! You are fighting a losing battle."
Thank God that I have hidden His Word in my heart, and I rebuked Satan by telling him that "I will not have to fight this battle.. The battle belongs to the Lord. All I have to do is take my position, stand firm and see His deliverance."
Over a period of one year, the spirit of death left me and is replaced the Spirit of Joy.Filled with His Joy, as I chose to live instead of die last year, God had said to me He will show me plans to give me HOPE and a future.
As I was searching for the purpose for my future, my heart began to fill with compassion for the suffering cancer patients. Come to think of it, God had allowed me to go the pits of hell of suffering shedding buckets of tears for a purpose. The purpose is to enable me reach out to other the cancer sufferers by - sharing with them how to deal with their painful feelings and- move on with greater divine help from God above.
But I did not know how to reach out and share with many people. It was not until the divine visit of my church pastors to my house in May last year.
During that visit, my Senior Pastor Chew and his wife Pastor Lee Choo began talking about caring for people as SIB is a church 'Where People Matter' so says the tagline.Whilst talking they said "Hey, how about you writing a book to help the sick especially the cancer patients, its care-givers and friends to walk the journey and find Hope and Peace?"In my heart I was saying 'No lah, it could be such a strain on me while still undergoing treatment. Aiyah just no way.'
But somehow I could not escape what the Pastors suggested. One week after their visit, I woke up at 5am and started writing the contents of this book. I did not know why I did it and how I managed it. All I knew is that the power of the Holy Spirit has made it possible.
So the seed of writing a book was sown by my dear Pastors and God has watered the seed and made it grow.
Today the seed has grown into this book called 'THERE IS HOPE'.
I must share with you that while writing this book, I was in constant pain and I thank God that never a moment I felt like giving it up. I could carry on writing because my strength comes from the Spirit of Joy. Joy could not enter through my physical body due to the pain,it could not enter from the outside in. But it has entered through my spirit from inside out penetrating my soul and body to give me the strength.I thank God for His strength and wisdom to enable me to finish writing.And now, let me share with you a sneak preview of the book.There are 3 sections:
Section 1 is about:- Understanding A Cancer Patient's Feelings, Concerns and Fears- How to Help Someone with Cancer - My Journey
There is also a special chapter on 'What is Cancer?' which includes - Who are at risk - Prevention- Staging and - Treatment of Cancer. It is contributed by none other than our Church Council Member Dr Wong Sum Keong.
Section 2 of this book is about my spiritual walk on 10 Spiritual Ways to Release Healing which I believe is applicable not only to the sick but also to all healthy people for disease prevention and emotional healing:-
The 10 Ways are:1 Salvation 6 Faith2 Forgiveness 7 Laying On of Hands3 Pleasant Words 8 Overcoming Fear4 Merry Heart 9 Obedience5 Word Therapy 10 Persistence and Perseverance
And the last section of this book, section 3 is on Healing Testimonies by 7 SIBKL members. And I want to thank the 7 of you very much for your contribution.
As I wrote the whole book, I myself gathered momentum in my healing.Today I thank God that my blood tumour has improved with every bi-monthly test. My tumour marker range should be between 0 to 35.My Tumour Marker Range 0-35Jan 06 110Feb 06 71Apr 06 41Jul 06 31Oct 06 21Dec 06 16Feb 07 15Apr 07 14)
And my marker kept dropping from a frightening 110 last year right down to 14! The marker is well within the range which means the cancer is under control. Praise God!
However whilst physical healing has begun, more importantly, I sense that each day He is transforming me. Specifically, He is transforming me in 5 ways:-
1 Confess and repent. Yes truly repent and walk away from sin2 Forgive, forgive and forgive many times over no matter who and no matter what, for if I do not forgive, God will not forgive me3 Love the agape way, for God has shown me He is no respecter of persons as far as love is concerned4 Not only Trust but to OBEY His Word by living it out. Even to the point of not judging people. For He clearly says in Romans 2:1 - You have no excuse, you who pass judgement on someone else, for whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgement do the same things.5 Have a merry heart for it is good medicine for my soul and body.
I believe that God has a purpose for my transforming me in these 5 Ways.I now see that He was actually preparing me to face a greater future.
What future as a 4th stage cancer patient? A future, as a 4th stage cancer patient, where I can give encouragement and hope to cancer patients in the 1st to 3rd stage and the 4th as well.
As such, God works in ways we never know, God has sent me Tian Hooi, wife of our church elder SK Ng, to start our own private Cancer Support Group.We have called it Elpizo Cancer Support Group. Elpizo in Greek stands for Hope.It will be held at a Ministry House opposite Assunta Hospital every fortnight Thursday. The first session is scheduled on July 12.
The proceeds of the book will help run this Cancer Support Group.The book will be on sale at the lobby after the service. Thereafter it will be available at Canaan Land, Glad Sounds, MPH and Popular Bookstores.
All cancer patients are welcome and you can contact either Tian Hooi or myself for further details. Note that it's not just for the ladies.There will also be a men's group, the husbands of the ladies can join in too.
Having said all these, as I look back at the my first slide,
Where I wondered how could I ever have the time:-- to see my soul transformation- to do God's will
I learned that:-as I change myself instead of expecting others to change, as I focus on Jesus and wait upon Him,
He is faithful and today He - has transformed my soul and - prepared me to do His will in reaching out to the suffering people.
For this, I am ever grateful to Him. Every night before I sleep, I still cry thanking Him for giving me one more day to serve Him.
For where I am today, I must also thank the following people for their support and prayers:-
- My 110% supportive husband and understanding son
- Pastor Chew and Pastor Lee Choo and all church members who upheld me
- Dato Chua Jui Meng and Dr Florence Wang for endorsing my book
- Naga DDB ex-colleagues who continued to pray for me even after I resigned last year. They really touched my heart to the core. And I thank you all so much for your attendance here today.
- And last but not least my many friends who are here for the first time today. You have truly encouraged and supported me emotionally when I needed it most. Thank you so much.
In conclusion, I believe that out on the waters of faith, Jesus was waiting to meet me in ways that would change me forever, deepening my character and my trust in God, and calling me for His purpose.
In spite of the tumour and pain I still have across my chest wall and sternum, I will press on by continuing to step out of the boat and walk on water.
I chose to walk on water because God has given me a Hope and a future.And I know I will be able to attain it as I remain:-
- Joyful in Hope- Patient in Affliction- Faithful in Prayer
In God I put my trust, THERE IS HOPE.

避免说：「你不应该那幺想」或「你应该知道怎幺做」。

向他们保证你为他们代祷。

祷告！求上帝帮助你和他们。

保持联络。

帮助他们除去不正确的罪恶感，向他们说明苦难与罪不是绝对有关连的。

如果确实是因罪引起的，或者在经过反省后发现有隐藏的罪时，要帮助他们寻求基督饶恕。

鼓励他们回想过去曾体验过上帝信实的经历。

思考基督的榜样和寻求祂的帮助。

提醒他们上帝是爱我们和照顾我们的，并且祂掌管一切。

鼓励他们逐步来面对问题。

鼓励他们也向其它人（朋友、亲属、牧师）寻求帮助。

帮助他们明白克服困难是需要时间的。

提醒他们上帝是我们的牧者（诗篇23篇）。

提醒他们上帝是宇宙的主宰，无论大小的事都在祂的掌管之中。

「与喜乐的人要同乐；与哀哭的人要同哭。」──罗马书12章15节
不要忽视他们的问题。

不要虚伪地逗他们开心，要真诚，对待他们就如你在他们面对苦难前对待他们一样。

设想你在他们的处境时，你希望别人怎样对待你，便以那样的爱去对待他们。

做个好的聆听者。

认同他们所受的伤害。

让他们有时间痊愈，不要操之过急。

According to Pr. Daniel Ho, there are 9 types of hearts...

1. A Wicked Heart (Prov 6:18) -envy, jealousy, scheming evil plans
Solution: Needs a change of heart, repentance before God, and ask God to remove the heart of flesh

2. A Wounded Heart (Ps 38: 8, 11)
Solution: Need for Healing

3. A Worn Out Heart - worn out by burdens, cares, sorrows, bound by anger, resentment, weary, worried and weight down
Solution: Need deliverance, cleansing healing and restoration

4. A Wandering Heart (like King David in 2 Sam 11:2, 3)
Solution: Need deliverance

5. A Wondering Heart (Lk 1:21) - mind full of doubt, questions
Solution: Mind Renewal

6. A Worldly Heart (Mt 6:24) - wavering heart, earthly desires (1 Jn 2:15) blinded by the power of money, success, bounded by pride, harbouring unforgiveness....worldliness cannot be seen on the outside and determined from the clothes we wear or the things we put on....it is hidden inside

"You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems."
This is an absolutely incredible short interview with Rick Warren, "Purpose Driven Life " author and pastor of Saddleback Church in California .The interview was so inspiring to me that I wanted to share it with as many people as I could.

In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, Rick said:

People ask me, What is the purpose of life? And I respond:
In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.

One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me.
I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal.

God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity. We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one.

The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort.

God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy!

We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer.

I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore.

Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life.

No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on.

And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems.

If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness,
"which is my problem, my issues, my pain."

But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her.

It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people.

You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life. Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy.

It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease. So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72.

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.

Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.

Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation.

Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say,

God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better ...

God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do. That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.

Roughed Up To Grow Up 艰苦的成长

Many Christians have to be lovingly roughed up before they will grow up. Although the heavenly Father never allows His children to suffer needlessly, sometimes He lets them experience hard knocks so they'll become mature believers.

The need for "bad weather" to stimulate growth can be seen in nature. Scientists say that the seeds of some desert bushes must be damaged by a storm before they will germinate. They are covered with hard shells that keep out water. This allows them to lie dormant on the sand for several seasons until conditions are right for growth.

When heavy rains finally come, the little seeds are carried away in a flash flood. They are banged against sand, gravel, and rocks as they rush down the slopes. Eventually they settle in a depression where the soil has become damp to a depth of several feet. Only then do they begin to grow, for moisture is absorbed through the nicks and scratches they picked up on their downhill plunge.

Similarly, difficulties may be needed to wake up a sleeping saint. This may hurt for a while, but if we yield to the Lord we will find that life's bruises can mark the beginning of spiritual advances. We may prefer to remain "seeds," but He wants us to become "fruitful trees." —Mart De Haan

同样地，上帝可能需要利用艰苦困难来唤醒沉睡中的圣徒。我们也许会有短暂的苦楚，但只要顺服主，便会发现生命的创伤正标示着灵命成长的开始。我们也许安于未发芽的「种子」阶段，但上帝却要我们成为「结果子的树」。MRD

我姓辜；名可之，我想在此为伟大的创造主耶和华做见证：我是一个很爱阅读的人，特别喜爱一些哲学，玄学的书籍，而宗教正好提供绝佳的思考空间。身在一个佛教文化的背景，接受着西方文化的冲击，对于宗教我一直以科学的角度对待，无法证明就不必作无谓的辩论，当然，无法证明的并不一定就虚假，所以我宁可站在假设神的存在或真有轮回的立场去探讨其教义与逻辑。由于基督常在许多问题上以人的智慧不足或主有他的计划唐塞，让我觉得这是一个无限循环的逻辑而较倾向佛教。

后来耶和华的牵引下，我参加了几次教会的活动，疑问却无法解答。直到今年的母亲节，一向坚持凡事靠自己不麻烦他人的我在情绪低落时第一次尝试向主祷告，意外的是在第二天即使路上遇到多倒霉的事，心里都有一个声音在教导我往好的方向想。虽然觉得奇特，心里存疑，但却不以为意。父亲节的时候，朋友鼓励我前去领受牧师的祝福，我心想希望可以改善与父亲的关系而向前了。当我回到家时立刻就得知我父亲在一个我们争执了一年的问题上让步了，我的心立刻动摇了，然而固执的我宁愿相信这只是一个巧合，心里却已经在想，真有神吗？之后在一次情绪上的崩溃，朋友继续鼓励我向神祷告，我说神在干什么你都不清楚，他告诉我那些有何意义，只要是真的不就等于一切了吗？我被说服了而向主祷告：若你是唯一的真神，我不限制你，请你更明确的的告诉我并指引我一条你认为对的道路吧，我必跟随。

时间飞逝，我却不觉有什么差异。后来教会的一位弟兄来找我吃饭，他原以为我已信主，得知我未信主后即劝我尽早信主（这是我第一次被要求入教），我心平气和地想，该不会这就是你的提示吧？既然打开了话匣子，我甚至不客气地将我所知的佛教道理讲给他听。说得这位热心的兄弟不知所措。之后我更狂妄自大，对主的疑问一次过涌上来，用许多佛教教义来抗拒主耶稣，然而感谢主没有放弃我。当我在游览网上寻找一首曾风靡一时的歌《奇异恩典》时，意外地进入到约拿之家，而且那佛基对话的专栏好像放大了几十倍似的把我吸引过去，在那里对佛教的研究可谓专业之极，我的直觉就是主的引导，顿时感觉就像被缴了械似的，这时下载了的歌已完成，我打开一听却是一位见证的录音，出奇的我又被吸引了。听完后，立刻就被圣灵感动，心里狂跳，只想立刻找出祷告文向主耶稣宣誓我的归顺并接受他为我唯一的救世主。

现今我已接受主耶稣的救恩，并非我选择信他，而是被他拣选了，受着这奇异的恩典，将我一步一步引向他，使我在主的大爱里得以蒙救。

God's Timing, My Experience

Dear fellow buddies and friends.
Firstly, I would like to thank those of you who are concern of my recent experience and decision-making and those who have prayed along with me. For those who are not aware of what happen, I will be most glad to write my story in chronological order as a testimony and thanksgiving to our God, the Alpha and Omega, my Provider in need. His grace is sufficient for my need. In His name shall I praise and glorify.

It all began in mid January 2005 (12th January). As usual, my company’s employer called me up for an annual discussion/evaluation. As the company was not making any profit and my employer was concern of what my future holds in the company (as I am much interested in my profession as a food quality personal rather than a businessman as what wanted by my employer), we came to a mutual agreement to release me of my position and ask me to seek new ground. I handed over all my documents and work at hand to my various colleagues, instructing and giving my final instruction to them before saying goodbye to them.

Indeed I was saddened at that time, as I am quite attached to the company then (it was my first job), nevertheless I earnestly seek God’s wisdom to open a new path for me as I am then jobless and it was close to Chinese New Year. Three days later, I called up my ex-employer to provide me with a written testimonial of my work performance during my one and a half with the company. My ex-employer was most willing to help me to write the testimonial. Not only that, he also ask me to continue to help him out in the company as a guide and helper to my colleagues on my department so that they may have time to fully understand the department which I headed. I was offered to continue to work there until I am able find a new job. (God is amazing and answer prayer.)

Even as I continue to work there, I continue to pray that I may secure a job soon as I do not want to be a burden to my company. I was free to walk in and out of the office to attend interviews without deduction of time or leave from the company! Early March, upon going for interviews at four companies, I knew God would provide me a new job in April. Of the four companies, I was most interested to work for Ayamas as I had mentioned to some of you. I even ask my pastor to pray for me before that particular interview with Ayamas.

However, in the mid of March, I was being offered a job with Havi Foods in Port Klang, which wants me to start work on 1st April. However I did not sign the Appointment Letter hoping that I will get Ayamas. Two and a half weeks past without any news from Ayamas, so I signed with Havi and agreed to start on 1st April. 30th of March, I receive not one but two calls from Ayamas to ask me to report for duty on the 1st April! I have no choice but to turn down Ayamas then as I have already agreed and promise Havi to start work there. A promise is something I do not like to break.

My experience with Havi did not when well. Though the colleagues are all very communicative and friendly, the management changed my working time from normal office working hours to 12 hours 6 days per week. I agreed as long as I still have a day of rest, as the work there is really tiring. (If you were to see me then, you will find a zombie me). On Friday night, my immediate superior inform me that I have to work 7 days as the current shortage of management staff. That night, I thought and prayed hard on what is to be done as I am too tired to work 7 days and if it continues, I will have to forgo attending church as well. I discussed with my family and they were supportive of whatever decision I will make. I called and SMS one of my friend regarding some clauses stated in my appointment letter whether I would break or breach any of the stated clauses. By right, I would need to provide one-month notice before leaving. I prayed to God to help me, as I am really unable to bear a whole month working there.

On Saturday afternoon, I tender in my resignation to my Manager, she was quite upset and tried to convince me to try out for another week, saying that I will soon adapt to it and I can make lots of claims on my overtime. No matter how, I felt that money does not plays the most important factor of my life. So, the manager had no choice but to let me go on that day itself. I do not need to serve 1 whole month! (Yes, I am free and felt at peace). My close buddies were shock that I made such “harsh” decision. But I know God will always provide me with a solution. What that is impossible to man is always possible in God’s eye.

11th April, Monday morning, I go through my mobile phone praying that the two numbers that Ayamas used to call me is still there. I do know that it is God’s work that the two calls have its number displayed and not the normal Ayamas calls, which was normally have their numbers withheld. I called the HR Manager as his name struck me in a sudden, asking him whether the position is still vacant or not. Yes, it is vacant but he would need to discuss with the QA Manager (my new department boss) whether she still wants to accept me or not. I have to explain why I turn down the offer initially; she agreed to give me another chance. It was really God’s timing that I called there and then as that day Monday was her last day at work as she will be going for confinement leave on the next day where as all the recruits were to start orientation and 3 months training the next day! I reach there that afternoon, just in time to join the others in receiving final briefing from my QA Manager, had my Appointment Letter signed and have my medical check-up all in one day and I officially starts and am just in time for the orientation and training. If I was a day later, I will have definitely missed the bus.

Never Let Go

A forward mail received today. It's worth sharing here.

Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.

He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore. His mother in the house was looking out the window saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator. Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.

The newspaper reporter, who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Mom wouldn't let go." You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He’s been there holding on to you.

The Scripture teaches that God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants to protect you and provide for you in every way. But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That's when the tug-of-war begins and if you have the scars of His love on your arms be very, very grateful. He did not and will not ever let you go.

God has blessed you, so that you can be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in his/her life and what they are going through.

Never judge another persons scar, because you don't know how they got them. Also, it is co important that we are not selfish to receive the blessings of these messages without forwarding them to someone else. Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them, and you love them too enough to not let them go.

Hope to share the below as an encouragement to your dear brothers and sisters in Christ ;)

It’s been a while since I last pen and share my thought among fellow friends, whether known or unknown to me. First, let me present myself. I came to know Jesus since my early youth. Though was not able to attend churches due to time constrain in the past, He continue to preserve His love and grace for me, encouraging me daily to live accordingly to His will, enduring each and every temptation and trails along the way of my life. Praise to God that now I am currently attending a particular church, which He has chosen for me.

As mention earlier, due to time constrain, I was not able to attend regular church service. Though many churches now offer plenty different time schedule to cater for people like me, I was still not able to adapt to any of it. In short, I was hopping from one church to another, regardless of denomination. In short, I was never lacking in God’s words and gifts. Then God directed me to one particular church, a small Mandarin speaking church! Though I am able to converse fairly in Chinese and blend among them, I am handicap. I come from a “kebangsaan” school since young and am not able to read the Chinese character displayed. Since God open this particular path for me, I obliged to give it a try.

At first, I was most uneasy with the whole service, from the start of praise and worship to the end of alter calling. I do manage to catch some verse here and there and since the church is a small church, we know each other and hold each other closely in fellowship. What I am lacking is covered by their warmness and passion. God has indeed opened my eyes! Language is no longer a barrier to me among my fellow Chinese brothers and sisters. Therefore, it’s not too much for me to say that God has His ways. Indeed He works mysteriously.

In the past, never would I imagine that I would join a Chinese church, what more to serve Him there! I truly believe that He will continue to open path in my life as I follow one step at a time on this lighted path, knowing that He is the shepherd guiding His little lamb. ~S.H.

Live Purposefully!

Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

Have a plan and discipline yourself to work your God-given plan. If you don't discipline yourself to follow your God-given plan then you will be swayed and will not accomplish anything -- you will be purposeless, unwise, and witless.

Follow God's Purpose for your life
Father, save Me from this hour [of trial and agony]. But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour [that I might undergo it].

Our purpose is to live for others and to serve others. It is through that that joy unspeakable comes to us. We don't have to seek it, it will come to us if we purposefully serve others.

Don't procrastinate -- JUST DO IT NOW! -- Good intentions are not obedience. The more you put things off the bigger task they seem to become.

Appetite -- Overeat? Undereat? Eat too fast? Well-balanced diet? Drink enough water?
Exercise -- Enough exercise? Proper sleep and rest?
Housework -- Take care of your house? Clean up after yourself?
Finances -- Spend too much or too little? Give where and to whom God directs?
Spiritual Life -- Spend enough time with God? Prayer?

You MUST be disciplined and balanced if you wish to get anything done. A passive person will get nothing done. Even with discipline you must be balanced because someone who is legalistic with discipline will just work work work work and never have any fun. Balance is crucial to life. If you don't discipline yourself to work and do the hard things in life then, Proverbs says, you will die (not literally).

An undisciplined person is someone who is always looking for ways to avoid hard work. Everything nowadays has become so easy that if you want to get any exercise you have to pay money to join an exercise club. Then you must discipline yourself to go!
